Welcome Kousik to the Orbach Lab!

The Orbach Lab is pleased to welcome Kousik Bhattacharya, who has joined us as a PhD student.

Kousik joins us from Kolkata, India, where he completed an MSc in Molecular Microbiology at Presidency University. His previous research combined computational and cell-based approaches to identify and characterize antimicrobial peptides derived from human guanylate-binding proteins and examine their activity against Leishmania.

Through this work, Kousik developed experience in molecular biology, microbiology, cell culture, fluorescence microscopy, protein purification, and bioinformatic analysis. In the Orbach Lab, he will apply this multidisciplinary background to investigate the molecular mechanisms that govern ciliary structure and function.
